Friday Night Frenzy & Park Hopping

It's been a while since I last posted, but a lot has been going down the past few days.

I have been trying to get my zine finished as fast as I can, but it's a little hard when people don't respond in less than 5 days. But it's coming along slowly, but surely.

On Friday, I met up with Nathan, and some other cool dudes, and we hit up some bike trails and gas stations for a few hours. It doesn't seem like a lot of riding, but we probably rode about 30 miles. It's only the first of many awesome rides to come.

On Saturday, I wanted to see Static Radio at the Black Box Collective, but no one wanted to go with me, and downtown Orlando is too ghetto for an untrained 16 year old, so I just stayed home and watched some Seinfeld.

Today I hung out with Sierra for the first time in over a year. We partied at blue springs for a while, and tried finding cool places to hang out. We pretended to shop at Winn Dixie, and left a cart full of groceries in the store, and ended up visiting almost all of the parks in orange city, and deltona, minus a select few. Somehow I came home with two nerdy looking fish, and a new appreciation for grandma's that race pick-up trucks and draw nude women. AWESOME!

Tomorrow I get my passport, and hopefully a new bike seat. Onward and Upward!

p.s. Hospice steals dead people's belongings. That's how their prices are so low...

Zombies vs. Jedi

Yesterday I rode to De land with Tyler and we hung out with some cool dudes: Chris and Bailey. I ate at Moe's for the first time, which makes the best burritos in the land. Then we just cruised De land and Chris got caught stealing Oreo's at a 7-11. Tyler and I ended up heading home at 7. My brother came and picked us up against our will. It took him 40 minutes to come, so we could have just rode home. I got home at 9 o'clock and ate a left over Cliff Bar from Wal-Mart's free section.

Today, I started my day with a nice heaping cup of coffee, and headed to my local comic book shoppe. I picked up #2 Issues of Beavis & Butt-Head, and Return of The Jedi. On my way back it started to rain, so I booked it home. Made myself a BBQ Tofu sandwich and watched some Seinfeld re-runs. I got my Gray Ghost 10" in the mail today, and it rules way harder on vinyl. I played drums for a while, and tuned my snare.

I still need a job, so if you can help me out with that, it will be much appreciated.

Resurrect to Destroy

Today was a very busy day for me. Woke up around 8 to get a head start on the day. I didn't feel like doing schoolwork, so I didn't. I had a HUGE cup of coffee, and tried to get some more bids on my ebay items from the b9board. Luckily Charles helped me, and he bid on some stuff to get the prices a little higher. What a nice guy! I sold most of the stuff.
Then I remembered I had to go to the library to return some Cd's, and books. I got about half way down Saxon Blvd on my bike when I ran over a nail, and it went through my tire and tube and was sticking out the other side. I had one of those Fix-A-Flat cheap tube fixer-upers in my back pack, so I used that hoping it would get me to the library and back. Unfortunately, it didn't work at all. it just got greasy white foam all over my shorts and hands.
I ended up walking my bike 2 miles back to my house. I got on my Dad's shitty mountain bike and headed for the all mighty Wal-Mart. It took me a while to get there since that mountain bike wasn't near as fast as my road bike. But once I get there I realize I didn't have much money with me. Luckily, they were having an awesome sale: If you put stuff in your pockets when we aren't watching, you get to have it for free! I got a 27" shit brand tube, and a tube repair kit, which would have done me good earlier. I am successful at being undetected on my way out of the store with my pockets full.
I figured since I am out already, I might as well ride to the library like I was planning. Bad idea. The mountain bike is horrible at tackling the hills ahead on Saxon, and 17-92. It took me forever to ride about 3 miles to the Debary library, but 108 helped pass the time. I return my almost overdue books, and to my surprise I find a Dinosaur Jr. cd! I go to check out, and the bitch at the front desk tells me I owe $8 on stuff I definitely returned about a month ago! I tell her to double check that shit, which she does, and finds out that the computer was wrong, and I don't owe anything. I took my Dino Jr. cd and get the fuck out. I listened to 88 Fingers Louie on the way back and it wasn't as bad as getting there, except for the huge hill in 17-92 that was covered in sandbags, and drainage pipes.
I got back to my house, and changed the tubes, and now everything is Perfecto Padia.
Time to go make me a BBQ tofu sammmmmich!

Demo Tapes & Edge Breaks

As some of you know, I am starting a zine. There is no particular reason for me doing this except I need something to occupy my time, since I can't find a job. The magazine will be called Demo Tapes & Edge Breaks. There will be a tape consisting on songs from bands around Florida, or just band that people should know about, included with every magazine. Interviews from some sweet bands, and some reviews of some of my favorite new albums. There will also be many articles focusing on subjects such as animal rights and hardcore in general. Keep on the lookout for Demo Tapes & Edge Breaks!

Failure and Boredom

Today was just like any other day. Woke up, drank some coffee. Did some schoolwork. Then I proceeded in riding my bicycle to orange city, to pass the time. I ended up at Goodwill for the third time in four days. I found a Will Ferrel shirt with "More Cowbell" on the front, and Sean Connery as James Bond in Goldfinger. I rode around to the back to scour the dumpster for something, and realized I left my sunglasses in the dressing room! So, I went back, and luckily they we still there. I then rode over to Publix and checked their dumpsters for anything special. I found nothing, so I went to Hospice Thrift Store in the K-Mart plaza. Found an Alien Workshop trucker hat, and a Danny Devito/Judge Reinhold movie which looks hilarious. I met up unexpectedly with my brother Matt, and we ate at Taco Bell. Then I headed home, and almost got hit by 4 cars on the way.

My sexy bike Julia:

My Florida State Seminoles Tank-Top was soaked in sweat and man odor, so I threw it in the drier for a few minutes. I decided to make some homemade Seitan with a BBQ recipe I found on the internet. I didn't have gluten flour, so I just used regular flour, and it turned out really soft. I put it in the fridge for 15 minutes, and it was still really soggy, so I threw it away. What a failure.

Listened to the Big Rats demo(myspace.com/bigratsfl) until my dad came home and told me to turn it off. He is now making drunk chicken. That's where you take a whole chicken, set it on top of a beer can (preferably Coors) and grill it until the chicken is done and the beer has evaporated into the chicken. TASTY!!!!

Sounds like someone has a case of the mondays

So, today I woke up and did some schoolwork for a few hours. Then I rode my bike and went to Goodwill, and Big Lots for a little while. Then I hung out with Tyler and ate a Souper Meal, and watched A Haunting.

We sat around until 3, then rode to Half-Off-Books and then it started to rain, so I rode home.

As, I was approaching my house, I was passing these dude-bros playing football in the street. They threw the football right at me, and it missed by a few inches. I couldn't do anything since there were 10 of them, and they were buff and bigger than me and my wimpy body. So, I just ignored them and went home.

Muscles suck, football sucks, dude-bro's suck, and dude-bro's with huge muscles, playing football suck. Go, listen to Rival Schools.

"You can't just eat food out of dumpsters, and live out of a van for the rest of your life!"

Hardcore and punk is undefinable. If you aren't a part of it, you will never understand. So many things that are deemed unacceptable in society, are common courtesy in the hardcore and punk community. Your father wouldn't let someone he just met 10 seconds ago sleep on his floor, and use his shower, and eat his food, would he?

It kind of makes me mad that people don't understand the whole concept of it. But, then again, I'm glad that people don't understand, because it makes the whole idea of being a "family" and helping out people when they really need it more personal. Sure there are idiots and insane people in the hardcore scene and people that couldn't give two shits about where the bands go's after a show, but there are also people that give money out of their own pockets to bands that were screwed out of a show, or people that let bands stay at their house for 3 days because their van was hit by a drunk driver. Even if you aren't in a band: You volunteer to carpool with someone to a far away show, or even pick someone up that fell while singing along.

I would just hate to see the hardcore/punk scene fall to fashion and popularity like every other genre of music out there today...

Computer vs. Typewriter

Woke up, drank 2 cups of coffee. Rode my bike to the De Bary library. And found these two works of art hiding on the shelf.

Didn't eat at all today. If Denny's had non-dairy creamer, I wouldn't need to own a house. Time to watch Seinfeld.

"Sorry, not at the moment."

So, I spent the WHOLE day applying for jobs. So may rejections, and three applications received. I also applied online for a million different jobs. In all I probably filled out 20 applications. There has to be one opening somewhere. I don't even care if I clean up shit all day for $2.34/hr. I just need money.

United by Fate

I rode my bike 20 miles round trip today, to Steve's Downtown music in De Land. I bought Rival Schools - United By Fate, and Shutdown - Something To Prove. Some dude bro came in while I was purchasing these works of art wearing a full jean outfit, including cowboy boots, and bought three, count em, THREE INXS Cd's.

As I was on my way back, three blocks away from my house, it started pouring down rain. I got soaked, and when I went to use my brakes at an intersection, they wouldn't work, so I had to pedal really fast and go into the grass to avoid a UPS delivery truck.

The nerd in me

So, I found some old G.I. Joe and Captain America comics in my room yesterday, and have decided to get back into comics. I bought Star Wars and Beavis and Butthead first issues today. Here's what I have so far:

I am also thinking about starting my own zine. I was thinking either a hardcore comic book with sketches about cliche hardcore and punk situations, or just a regular interview zine with some funny articles. Opinions are appreciated.

Marine Scientology

I got new tires and tubes for my bike, and a fancy cup holder for long rides. That took a good amount of space out of my wallet since I don't have a job. I also got the Youth of Today Disengage 7" from Danielle yesterday (which rules super hard by the way).

No Harm Done didn't go on their last tour due to some disagreements. No Ambitions, Dead Hearts, or Grey Area shows. But we are doing a full U.S. tour from November 12th to December 16th which is siqqq!

I've got no food, I've got no job, my pets heads are falling off!
